Having toured and recorded with Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Paul Simon, Shane currently plays guitar with Crosby, Stills and Nash. He met David Crosby and Graham Nash — with both of whom he has also been writing songs — through mutual friend Marc Cohn with whom he performed and recorded for fourteen years.

Shane has performed at the Kennedy Center Honors for six consecutive years including the tributes to Townshend/Daltrey (2008), Paul McCartney (2010) and Led Zeppelin (2012).
